OUR MISSION

“The key to getting people (especially young people) to prepare or want to prepare is finding their promise. Peoples’ behavior changes when they love what they want to do more than dislike what they have to go through.”
    – Therman E. Evans, pg. 168, From Purpose to Promise Driven Life.

    OUR PURPOSE

To encourage and assist Morning Star students in achieving their educational goals by raising scholarship funds, providing guidance with college readiness and walking them through the financial aid process.

    ABOUT US

The Constine Evans Scholarship Fund was named in honor of Morning Star’s founding mother, Constine Evans. We provide financial assistance to high school seniors attending college, business or professional schools and/or vocational/technical institutions. Programs offered by the Scholarship Ministry include: SAT reviews, college tours, career nights, financial aid seminars and more. These programs are not only offered to Morning Star youth but are open to youth everywhere.

“The Scholarship Ministry has instituted the “$1-A-Day” initiative in order to facilitate our ultimate goal — raise one million dollars to pay full, four year scholarships for students entering college. With the support of the “$1-A-DAY” initiative and other fundraisers, the Scholarship Ministry awarded over $60,000 in scholarships in the last 2 years. If you’d like to help bring our vision to fruition, the “$1-A-Day” contributions are collected on the 4th Sunday of each month, but contributions can be made anytime.

We take pride in being able to give back by participating in Acts of Kindnesses throughout the year. We’ve participated in:

Care Packages to Morning Star College Students
    Clothing Drive
Dunkin Donuts Gift Cards to College Students
    Catherine’s Closet (prom dress donations)
    NYC AIDS Walk
    Donated socks to the homeless
